The bling bling or simply called bling is a fashion, used in hip hop culture, mainly by gangsta rappers, although more common in southern rap / pop, which wear luxurious and shiny jewelry. The term bling refers to the fictitious sound that makes the shine or sparkle of a jewel (mainly silver, gold or diamonds). The term bling bling was created by Lil Wayne while working in the recording studio; however, the term had already been used in some previous cases (as in Slick Rick's Mona Lisa song in 1988) although in most cases with some variations (such as ping instead of bling or bling-blauw). At the moment its use in rap and reggaetón singers is very widespread, as well as in its followers. The term also has extended to the Castilian: the rappers use the term in the Latin hip-hop, and reggaetón of Puerto Rico and Panama, although normally it is written and pronounced "blin-blin". The word in Spanish, blinblineo is also used to refer to the bling-bling style.
