A jewel consists of ornamental objects for the body, which are usually made of precious stones and metals, although materials of lesser value can also be used. Any type of material has been used to make jewelry. The word comes from the old French "joie" which means joy, joy, and at the same time this word comes from the Latin "iocus" which means joke or lack of seriousness. Among the usual items that are known as jewelry can be mentioned the bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, as well as ornaments for hair, among others. However a jewel could be more than an ornamental object for people, it can be expressed as an extension of the person itself, and reflected not only with objects, but with a change in the color of the hair, a tattoo, makeup, since it would be providing by definition of its etymology a joy to the person, besides a joy of being able to express its tastes and be an extension to the individual's way of being. In its various forms, the jewels are worn by people of both sexes, in almost all human cultures, in almost all continents. It seems that humans tend to adorn themselves. In rare cases, jewelry is used in the sense of modesty; for example, to cover the nipples, but mainly for aesthetic and ornamental effect.
